Bringing the ClassPass Andriod app to parity with the iOS app

ClassPass is a monthly subscription service that gives users access to thousands of fitness classes in various cities across the country.

The majority of ClassPass’ traffic comes via their iOS app, which means the majority of resources are devoted to it. As ClassPass rapidly grew and expanded into other countries, there was an exciting opportunity to invest in the Android experience and expand its audience. ClassPass had an Android app, but it was outsourced (and we had no original design files) and the feature set was incomplete. In an effort to reach parity with iOS, we began a redesign that addressed existing UX problems and added much-desired features, such as ratings and reviews.

I worked directly with the PM and the newly hired, in-house, Android developer to catch Android up to iOS. We focused on parity but kept the Android user in mind with patterns and interactions that are native to the platform.

The end goal was to get Android and iOS to parity so the team can work cross-platform on the same features simultaneously and increase velocity.
